Front Page

This is my final design for my front cover. For the font I have used sans serif and made it blue against a white background to make it stand out. I have put only three article headings around the picture to fill in the gaps but also because any more headings would have taken the focus away from the picture. I used san serif font for the article headings and made them white so they stand out from the picture as they are on top of the picture. I have made the picture the main focus on the magazine as it is a picture of a student and I have made the front cover of my magazine suggest that the magazine is about the new arrival of students.

Contents Page

This is my contents page. The two boxes will be full of everything in the magazine along with the page number it is on. This is to make the search easier. I have made the layout of this page simple and easy to read as I dont want to confuse the reads and make the cotents page hard to read.

Sussex Downs College

For the next part of our task, we were asked to take a picture to be put on the front cover of the magazine. We did this by going around college and taking pictures of people at the college. We then asked to create a flat plan. This is where we had to design the front cover of our magazine on a piece of paper and then create it using Adobe InDesign.

This is a bad image as the image has been taken from a low angle which suggests power or authority. Another problem is because there is too much going on in the background.

This is a good image as there is not too much going on in the background plus it has been taken from a mid shot so we are able to see the person properly.

This is my flat plan. I have kept all details the same and have placed everything exactly how I designed it. I chose to arrange the article headlines around the image to fill up the space around the picture so there is not to many gaps.

Sussex Downs College AS Media Studies Jace Petch

This is my blog for the preliminary task. For this task, I have been asked to create the front cover for a Sussex Downs College magazine. I will use Adobe InDesgin to create this front cover along with a contents page. I must also use an original photograph taken in a medium close-up, laid-out text and a masthead.
